Petit Larceny
Section 155.25 of the New York Penal Code states, A person is guilty of petit larceny when he steals property. Petit larceny is a class A misdemeanor.
 
Those convicted of petit larceny may be sentenced to up to 1 year incarceration, or 3 years probation, or a combination of up to 60 days jail and 3 years probation. The court may also impose a fine of up to $1000. There is also a mandatory surcharge or either $200 or $205 depending on the court.
